BRIDGES
General Description: Bridges are artificial devises to replace one or more teeth. To replace a lost tooth with a bridge, adjoining teeth must be prepared for the crowns. The tooth and crowns are put together as a single piece, cemented to adjoining stumps. Once placed, the patient cannot remove the bridge. The procedure is similar to a crown, but it takes longer to build the bridge.

CROWNS
General Description: Crowns repair damaged or lost teeth. Crown procedures can use the natural tooth as a post or insert a post if the tooth is too damaged. FILLINGS
General Description: A dental restoration or dental filling is a dental restorative material used to restore the function, integrity and morphology of missing tooth structure. Existing fillings can be replaced or upgraded with white composite fillings. Filling materials include silver amalgam (also known as mercury dental filling), gold dental fillings and composite fillings.

IMPLANTS

DENTURES
General Description: Dentures are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth, and which are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable, however there are many different denture designs, some which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants. There are two main categories of dentures, depending on whether they are used to replace missing teeth on the mandibular arch or the maxillary arch.

PORCELAIN VENEERS
General Description: Veneers, also called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates, are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials. They are individually built and are bonded to the teeth. To cement the veneers, the external surface of the tooth must be trimmed. Preparation for a veneer procedure is less traumatic than for crowns, since it requires more trimming. Porcelain veneer procedures are meant to cover damaged or stained teeth. Our dental professionals will make veneer inlays at their lab so you can quickly have the treatment you need. Porcelain laminates give a polished, natural appearing result that effectively masks stains and other imperfections.

ROOT CANAL
General Description: A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form. This treatment usually takes two to four appointments depending on that tooth, and most of these techniques are pain free.

TOOTH WHITENING
General Description: In-office bleaching provides the quickest and most effective way to whiten teeth. With in-office bleaching, the whitening product is applied directly to the teeth. These products can be used in combination with heat, a special light, and/or a laser. The light and/or heat accelerate the whitening process. Results are seen in only one, 30- to 60-minute treatment. But, to achieve dramatic results, several appointments are usually needed. However, with laser-enhanced bleaching, dramatic results can be seen after the first treatment. Dr. Luis Alberto Baez Astua, D.D.S.
Dr. Baez has been a part of our group for 11 years. In 1994 he graduated from the University of Costa Rica as a D.D.S. with a emphasis on cosmetic dentistry. Over the past few years he has completed multiple advanced training courses focused on this field and implantology. Most continuing education courses are in the USA but include other Latin American countries as well. Dr. Baez has been a member of the School of D.D.S. since 1994 as well as a member of the Editorial Council of the Entrepreneur Dentist magazine, which is the most widely distributed magazine in the country. He has also completed an advanced training program in Implant dentistry and has become a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Currently Dr. Baez is dedicated exclusively to private practice and the care of his patients.
Dr. Arturo Acosta Mora, D.D.S.
In 1986 Dr. Acosta graduated as a D.D.S. from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil and again in 1987 he graduated as a D.D.S. from the University of Costa Rica.
